In February 2024, Basketfuls hosted the impactful event "Let Nothing Be Wasted," dedicated to serving the community of San Diego. Partnering with Final Call Ministries, led by Pastor Freddy Rivas and Pastor Pablo Azurdia, we united with our partners—Sam’s Club and the San Diego Chaplain Organization—to give back to those in need.
On this memorable day, we distributed food, water, clothing, and essential items to families and individuals facing hardship. The event was more than just a giveaway; it was a celebration of community, compassion, and collective effort. With the guidance and support of Pastors Freddy Rivas and Pablo Azurdia, we fostered an atmosphere of hope and connection, ensuring that everyone who attended felt seen, valued, and cared for.
Our partnership with Sam’s Club allowed us to provide high-quality goods, while the San Diego Chaplain Organization offered spiritual support and counseling to those seeking it. On Wednesday, January 1, 2025, Basketfuls partnered with Hanes to kick off the new year by giving back to the communities of San Diego, Fallbrook, and Temecula. 🧺❤️
Through Hanes’ generous donation of brand-new underwear, we were able to provide an essential item that often goes unnoticed but means so much. 🩲✨ It was a day dedicated to dignity, comfort, and hope, reminding us that even small gestures can make a big impact.
The smiles, gratitude, and connections shared were a testament to the power of kindness and compassion. Together, we started the year by spreading hope and making a difference where it truly matters. 🌍💙

This partnership is rooted in a shared commitment to restoring dignity, stability, and hope, particularly for single mothers and low-income households facing financial hardship. Through coordinated outreach, AltaMed staff will help identify families in need, while GIVES and Basketfuls mobilize resources and community support to meet those needs in a meaningful and timely way.
Together, we aim to go beyond assistance, creating impact that strengthens families, builds community, and reflects a culture of care, service, and generosity.
